Inspired by Colombia’s varying topography and geography, ‘Relieve Tropical’ is the latest edition of Design Room Colombia, a virtual platform and design showcase that highlights emerging design talents from Colombia. The newest collection references the warm hues of the Colombian Caribbean’s contrasting sunsets and the green tones of the country’s ‘páramo’, or moorlands, retelling the history of Colombian design from its roots. ‘Relieve Tropical’ features 10 local designers who recreated these varying microclimates through contemporary design pieces, resulting in a collection that reflects the country’s distinct tropicality.

Organized by Colombia’s tourism branch Procolombia, and curated by local design retail leader Claudia Correa of 902 Showroom, the platform allows the newer generations of designers and interior design companies a new space to showcase their products, highlighting the diversity of styles present in the Colombian artisan tradition and contemporary design scene.

According to curator Claudia Correa, "The best part these years working in design has been meeting and working with designers, artisanal brands, craftsmen and friends who love crafts, furniture and objects. I like to develop projects that combine many different perspectives, and Design Room Colombia has allowed me to carry out a collaborative project that articulates these different points of view. I don’t believe in uniformity— the distinct style of each brand stands out, harmonizing in spaces that tell a story.”

Participating brands include Sativa, Konkretus, Perceptual, Tu Taller Design, Diamantina y La Perla, Vida Util, Tybso, Tucurinca, 5AM, and MUS. Scroll down for a few of their standout products. design-room-colombia.colombiatrade.com.co
