It’s May, and as we look forward to the month ahead, in which most parts of the world seem to continue or even extend their lockdowns, the sense of anxiety and doom that defined the start of the crisis seems to be wearing off. The world can only maintain a state of shock and anxiety for so long before it starts to feel fatigue.

But these are disruptive times— May and the months that follow it will no doubt be defining moments for several big players and industries.The first of the casualties is the J.Crew empire, who just this week declared bankruptcy— and others in similar positions will no doubt follow suit.
