Hoy Hotel: From Latin America to Paris
In collaboration with
Through the eyes of Laura Hoyos of Hito Estudio (hitoestudio.com), who lived the experience and had the opportunity to speak with Charlotte Gómez de Orozco, owner and creator of HOY Hotel Paris.
On Rue de Martyrs in Paris lies an oasis amid the noise and flurry of France’s capital. HOY is a hotel that, as the name suggests, invites us to live in the present moment. Upon taking in the external facade, you can already feel its energy; it’s a space that invites us to pause, enjoy and think about our happiness well-being.
HOY founder Charlotte Gómez de Orozco is a French Mexican restaurateur and hotelier that descends from a family of hoteliers. Having spent her childhood in Mexico, she fondly remembers her home country’s roots, cuisine and traditions. Upon creating HOY Hotel, Charlotte combined her passions, dreams and inspiration from her grandmother and her mother to create this wellness escape amidst the hustle and bustle of Paris.

As Charlotte says, it is a space dedicated to well-being. The hotel has four main pillars: yoga, flowers, good food and a finely curated design. Its 22 rooms were designed for anyone from a zenned-out yogi to editor-chefs of magazines like Elle, Mint, and Le Figaro who seek an escape from their busy schedules and a touch of well-being for the weekend. HOY is an example of slow travel, and Charlotte and her team sought to provide such a large city with a space to escape the noise.
HOY features a flower shop, a very important stop for visitors because, according to Charlotte, flowers absorb bad energy so when people come into HOY, they can immediately let go of negative thoughts and start their retreat.
A stay at HOY is an ode to the senses. Inside the rooms you will find a stretching bar with a stretching routine suggested by HOY, both for the morning and evening, and with the goal of activating and connecting with the body. Guests are inspired to completely disconnect from technology, with no screens or television to tempt them. The rooms are inspired by the Feng Shui philosophy, and the walls and accents have a bluish tint, a color that promotes relaxation, resulting in a balanced and harmonious vibe.
And although Paris is a city unaccustomed to depriving itself of milk and butter, Charlotte and her chefs Lauren Lovatt and Carolina Rodriguez dared to propose a culinary alternative with Latin American cuisine based on plants. Charlotte associates the hours spent at Mesa, the hotel’s in-house restaurant, to the experience of honoring the body. Her menu transforms fresh vegetables and superfoods into elegant and sensory delicacies. The diverse mix of superfoods and adaptogens is key to the menu, which features ingredients like Cannabidiol, yacon syrup, gluten-free bread, and many more.
Finally, little hints of Latin America are everywhere, from the earthenware to the flowers and the furniture. Charlotte avoids clichés, opting instead to show a side of Latin America that focuses on the region’s unique design, art and gastronomy. By bringing Latin America to Paris, HOY breaks with tradition in a way that has been happily welcomed by Parisians. hoyparis.com
