Maker Home, housing for a sustainable lifestyle

Located in Rionegro, Antioquia, Tiny 116 is the first prototype for Colombian enterprise Maker Home, a sustainable housing option that keeps construction waste to a minimum while expediting the building process to two months.

After three successive years mounting life-size home installations on the fairgrounds of Medellin’s largest interior design and architecture fair, La Feria de Diseño, Medellin-based studio Tu Taller Design decided to take the housebuilding concept to the next level with a fully-fledged business model that addresses the specific needs of the Colombian housing context while respecting the environment, your time and your wallet.

The creators of Maker Home promise a sustainable living option that uses digitally manufactured homes (where pieces are cut by means of a numeric CNC machine) to ensure speedier construction times and a more waste-efficient use of materials.

The interior features an open kitchen that integrates both the dining room and social area.

One of three predetermined sizes, Tiny 116 spans 116 square meters, featuring an open kitchen, social area, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a study, and a deck.

Maker Home was created for those looking for a dynamic, connected, efficient and sustainable rural living option, but also expect reasonable pricing options and quick turnaround time. makerhome.info

While the front and back facades are windowless to conserve privacy among neighbors, the side walls feature floor-length windows that flood the house with light and verdant forest views.

The focal point of the kitchen area is the Smart Countertop by Corian, featuring an integrated drying rack and a sliding table.

The unusual stairway design features alternating salient beams that facilitate the climb in spaces that are small and steep.
