Medellin Design Week will open with a jet-black Bodega Central
Colombia’s foremost design week, Medellin Design Week, which combines design, education and industry, will celebrate its fifth anniversary starting next Wednesday, August 28 - September 1.
Starting next Wednesday, Medellín Design Week will celebrate its fifth edition, bringing with it workshops, conferences, meetings between the creative and business sectors and a jet-black gallery exhibition with pieces from more than twenty studios from Colombia and beyond.
The annual event, presented by local design brand Corona, has become a meeting space for local and international students, professionals, and design enthusiasts in the fields of product and interior design, industrial design, graphic design, audiovisual design, architecture, augmented reality and more.
Copy vs. Copy
This year’s event features the concept ‘Copy vs. Copy ’, a theme that seeks to address the importance of the design process by deepening our understanding of this unflattering cultural phenomenon.
According to Medellin Design Week director David del Valle, “for a week, the topic will be transformed into an exhibition of content rich in creative and innovative ideas and a space for conversation and creation of synergies that promote creative talent and the creative industry. [The Creative Economy] is a theme that is gaining more and more strength in the country and in the world."
