Travel with Kriteria: the essentials of traveling in the new normal
About this time a year ago, many of us were starting to plan our 2020 summer getaways. There were rumors about China fighting an unknown virus, but no one could have guessed there was a global pandemic brewing and that it would end up putting an end to all our travel plans— or better yet, to most of our plans period.
After a year we will always remember — marked by mandatory quarantines, social distancing, closed borders and grounded planes — we are finally seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. Safely-reopened destinations and gradual vaccinations paint a slightly more positive landscape for the tourism industry and our quality of life in general. Travel buffs and globetrotters have been searching for their next destination, with health and safety at the top of their priorities.
So, what does travel look like this year?
After the longest lockdown in modern history, we have found an increasing demand for the outdoors, reconnection with nature, and a new demand for seclusion and privacy. Predicting the future might be impossible but imagining a way forward is crucial. While human contact must still be restricted, keeping a safe distance, avoiding crowded places, and being in well-ventilated spaces has become the new luxury.
The privilege of being in an isolated area, away from the urban sprawl, inspired us to build a guide of hidden gems in Latin America. Disconnected from the hustle and bustle of big cities, here, you will find a series of off the beaten path destinations that are a true treat for the senses and all the inspiration you will need to find your way off the grid, embracing a slow travel approach and fully immersing yourself in the experience of appreciating art and design in all its manifestations. After the pandemic eases, we do not expect the world to go back to business as usual, and with this shift we hope to inspire you to travel with Kriteria.
